The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
