The star has given the complete sum of his £25,000 honor prize money to the trust for venues, which works to save the UK's small music venues.

He was given the award on 16 October as his latest record his work was chosen as the top album of the past year.

The musician has opted to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his beginning days.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it weren't for all the gigs I did around the area, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked the artist. "These locations are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have shut down – about 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, major artists like the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its initiatives to help venues survive, by including a modest fee to their ticket costs, which supports smaller concert halls.

Fender also participated, collecting more than £100,000 on his recent tour to assist numerous grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation helped spaces that were facing potential shutdown due to challenges stemming from flooding, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and sound issues.

Additional spaces obtained funding support in modernizing infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted musicians and concertgoers.

"The concept that funds from performances in big venues supports the independent spots, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just sensible," the star has stated.

The musician is not the first artist to donate his honor funds to worthy causes.

In Pulp received the award in the mid-90s for their album Different Class, frontman Cocker declared that the group would donate their prize money to the organization the charity.

That year, rapper and singer she shared her award between several organizations, like the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I donated a £1,000 to my local community centre, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was growing up and they needed new equipment," Ms Dynamite told the media.

In recent years, Ezra Collective donated their prize money to the community center that nurtured their act, alongside other independent music bodies.

Additionally winners that year the group gave their award to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the disease.

"Receiving the award was ample," stated artist the singer. "The prize was the extra but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the cake. So our success impacted another person's life."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had rescued several small stages in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.

One venue in that area and the second in Bristol were acquired under the public acquisition scheme, which is supported by a national body and music fans who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
